What Can Change Texas Energy Increases?
With energy rates across the nation being affected by so many factors, Texas is no exception.Given the flat terrain and abundance of petroleum based energy sources, Texas has to utilize different sources for its energy.
With summer temperatures frequently reaching triple digits Texans are frequently driven to use air conditioning which requires a lot of energy to run.
When energy demands are high the Texas energy grid relies on natural gas powered generators to make up the difference, and that can be costly if natural gas rates are already high. When the use of air conditioners adds a higher than normal demand to the grid, the backup generators used to make up the difference are powered by natural gas.
With several more variables in the equation that most other states, the prices of coal and natural gas can cause major log jams in the Texas energy market. As the natural gas used to power the backup generators goes up, that extra cost is passed on to the end user.
With many more people than other states, Texas has the increased difficulty of finding a way to provide power for the largest grid, with many more users than almost all other states. As you could imagine, a larger grid requires more hardware and other materials, increasing costs as well.
With the rare problems previously discussed, the solutions are few and becoming fewer. It seems obvious in such a large state with so much sunshine that the Texas electricity grid should emphasize solar power development as it is refined and developed more.
As solar and wind innovations are brought into the market place in increasing levels and receive their due exposure, more energy users will turn to them for their energy solutions. Consequently more energy providers will have to incorporate them in their plans for energy production as well.
