I'm just curious about (roughly) how much money you can save per month by switching to energy saving lightbulbs. If you change 5 or 6 bulbs, about how much money do you think I could save per month. Well, I have your answer right here. About 11% of your electric bill, so if you pay about $100 per month you can likely save about $11 per month. The way I calculate is this, on average an american home spends 15% of the energy on lighting. CFL's use 75% less energy than an incandescent. The most financially advantageous way to go about switching is to change the most frequently used lights. It makes no sense to change the lights in the closet if you only use them 5 minutes a month, instead look for the lights you have on the most, likely task lighting in the kitchen, office or bathroom. Another easy and cheap way to conserve energy is use power stips with switches for you computer station and entertainment areas. Plug the tv, dvd, game system and stereo in and when you are finished using them flip the switch and stop standby energy. Do the same thing with the computer, monitor, printer, speakers etc. Unplug chargers when not being used and you could save $10-$25 per month easily.

Ways To Save Energy

If you just turn off the power to your monitor but leave the cpu running does that save any energy? Does it save more energy to put the computer in hibernate/sleep mode. Well, I have your answer. You can leave your monitor and all the lights in your house as well bright light and turn on all your electric equipment as well. This will not save or use any more energy. No matter what you really do. The coal energy station will burn as much coal as it would use if your house doesn't even exist or exist, and a lot of energy will be lost on the way to your home over that high voltage wires, plus much more will be lost in the local converting stations that convert thousands of volts that go by that wires and need to be converted to 120 volts in your house. So, if I were you I would just light all thing like a Christmas tree. That will not make a difference.

IMO I feel we have one way out of this, we need to claim as much oil as possible first and foremost, if that means we need to stay at war, which I believe is one reason why we are at war, but why not, you need to fight for what you want. Second we need to make nuclear plants everywhere, highly efficient plants are now available and could power America and then some, even if everyone drove plug ins( disposal?-we need to find a way to use the waste or safely send it to space- spend tax money on researching that) once we have the nuke plants set up fill in with nano solar( ), for powering our cars and w. E. Makes your bill cheaper eventually. Electrolysis could also become fossil fuel independent with nuclear power so hydrogen cars could become the new oil combustion engine, what do you guys think i was more or less thinking launching it into venus, its usless anyways in regards to Adam c.
