Rather than have ALL the street lights lit up on the motorways, why doesn't the gov. Light up only every other light? Surely this would mean big saving to the treasury and environment. . any comments. I think I found an answer. The government is stupid. They have all these commercials about the citizens cutting back on electricity and paper&plastic and stuff, when they are hardly doing anything to help the environment. Surely they could cut back on street lights, we don't need them all. And plus they turn on the street lights too early. In the summer they start to turn them on at like 7 oclock. When in reality, it doesn't get dark until like 9 or 10 oclock. It makes absolute no sense. And you are right. It would save a lot of electricity if they did cut back on street lights, but they choose not to. All they care about is their money, but in the long run, they'll realise on how much of a mistake they made by waisting electricity and making the world a worse place. Good question, by the way.

Would it be feasible to build massive solar, wind, and geothermal power plants which solely do work to make Hydrogen fuel cells which are more portable, versatile, and efficient than most other methods. Could we do some method of this in the country to be completely independent of foreign oil and help stall the global warming process. Basically… Yes today it is deffinetly possible to produce enough energy in all possible means without ever using petroluem oil, you just have to find people with money will to make it happen.

I need some tips for saving energy in my home, I want to help save energy to save money and not so much pollution in my area. Thank you all so much I like some of your answers there very interesting. Hope more people can answer my question. Today I found out that… Replaced all light bulbs with low useage florescent bulbs, put timers at all light switches to turn off lights you might forget to turn off, put an energy monitor on our water heater so that it only heats water at high useage times (examples: on 20 minutes before wake up time for showers (no baths), off at the time we leave for the day, on in the evening for cooking and kitchen clean up and off all night and the water tank keeps (50 gals) water warm enough for in between times if we’re here at home, this is the largest energy savings in our home, we have tried some green cleaning solutions and wash clothes in cold water only. good luck
