. Well, I have your answer. By using an alternative fuel instead of gasoline you would save (avoid) using the amount of petrol that your present vehicle uses. If you presently walk you would save nothing by buying an electric car If you presently use a hummer with an average mileage of 15 mpg (1) and you traveled 15000 miles per year you would use 15000/15 = 1000 gallons of fuel / year and this is what you would no longer use if you switched to an alternative fuel. However the alternative fuel would continue to have a BTU value and a cost that could be compared on a cost basis or a pollution basis to the 1000 gallons of petrol you stopped using. If you switched to a hybrid this would present the most complex situation. Determining the savings for a prius would be relatively easy but using a Volt the savings are highly subject to driver usage and may not be worth the extra price you pay for the vehicle.

What other incentives have been proposed to help reduce pollution and invest in option energy research? Incentives that do not hinder economic growth. Do you know what I found? I think the best would be solar energy. . The reason why its so impractical now is because panels aren't getting recognition like they're supposed to from politics. . Real expensive. . And the sun could support earth and more with the tech we have today. . Research into photovoltics is somewhat limited though. . Again: politics.

I need some tips for saving energy in my home, I want to help save energy to save money and not so much pollution in my area. Thank you all so much I like some of your answers there very interesting. Hope more people can answer my question. Today I found out that… Replaced all light bulbs with low useage florescent bulbs, put timers at all light switches to turn off lights you might forget to turn off, put an energy monitor on our water heater so that it only heats water at high useage times (examples: on 20 minutes before wake up time for showers (no baths), off at the time we leave for the day, on in the evening for cooking and kitchen clean up and off all night and the water tank keeps (50 gals) water warm enough for in between times if we’re here at home, this is the largest energy savings in our home, we have tried some green cleaning solutions and wash clothes in cold water only. good luck
